Sikh Civil Rights Organization
The Sikh unification is to be considered as a community-based organization that works for the trust of civil and human rights for all people. Especially, we do our job for a world where Sikhs may easily practice and indulge in their trust while fostering strong relations with their area’s people wherever they'll be.
Programs and results
What we aim to unravel
Given the present climate of hate, Sikh Americans still remain
more susceptible
to hate attacks and bias-based discrimination. The continued politicization
and codification of xenophobia by the present administration
and other elected officials has further emboldened bigots to attack against
minority communities. On the average our legal team skilled 200+
legal intakes a year including nearly a dozen hate crimes or potential
hate-related incidents.
Numerous of the cases are related to hate crimes, school intimidation,
pay discrimination/accommodation, TSA complaints, racism and accommodations
for the articles of religion in schools and public life.
Our programs
What are the organization's present systems, how do they know
their success and who do the programs serve?
Advocacy
The Sikh unification’s support system inspires civic contribution
and pushes government to be deferential of Sikh concerns. We take the community’s
voice to the
government through letter-writing campaigns, congressional
outreach, civil rights reports and meetings with government agencies and media
outreach.
Community Organizing
The Sikh Union’s community outreach program works with
communities to
market Sikh communities through strengthening access to
local, state and national resources and promoting area people engagement.
Education
The education system pursues to create an environment
through education wherever Sikhs may freely
practice their faith and where people appreciate the presence of Sikhs within the community. We proactively combat prejudice
and discrimination by spreading consciousness
about Sikhs.
Legal
The Sikh union’s legal program defends and
safeguards religious freedom. We offer essential legal services to victims of hate
crimes, employment discrimination, public accommodations discrimination,
profiling and other sorts of discriminations.
The Sikh union’s work is administered at the local,
state, and federal levels. We use our legal, policy and community development
programs, which are supported by our media and communications department.
The legal system mainly files matters that address prejudice
and discrimination. These areas contain school intimidation, hate crimes, and
high-yield cases of office judgement. The policy system works to ensure laws
and administrative rules symbolise fundamental human rights and is then
scaled to
satisfy the requirements of the Sikh community at the local, state
and federal levels. Our community development program works to foster civil
engagement so
as to market area people empowerment. All of this work continues
with the broader goal of teaching Americans about the Sikh faith, community
and traditions to combat bigotry and discrimination.
